“The other day, the Supervisory Board of the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) approved the RSF’s report for the year 2017, and we decided to share our results with the public,” Alexander Khlunov, the Foundation’s Director General, said at the TASS news conference. He reminded that when the Russian Science Foundation had been established (the Foundation has been in operation for 4 years now) its founders promised the researchers generous grants and a project timeframe that would allow for the long-term stable research works.

Recently The Russian Science Foundation held a press conference at TASS to present a summary of its 2017 results. The Foundation’s Director General, Alexander Khlunov, outlined the main results of research projects and programmes funded by the Foundation and talked about the new trends in research, the outcomes of the first year of implementing the Presidential Research Funding Programme, and the plans for the future.

On May 14, 2018, the General Director of the Russian Science Foundation (RSF), Alexander Khlunov, and the Secretary General of the Research Foundation - Flanders, Hans Willems, signed the Memorandum of understanding on cooperation between two funding agencies, which will facilitate the joint RSF-FWO funding for the best Russian-Flemish collaborative projects in all areas of basic research, including social sciences and humanities.

On May 14, 2018, the General Director of the Russian Science Foundation (RSF), Alexander Khlunov, and the President and CEO of the National Research Agency of France (ANR) Thierry Damerval agreed to prepare a Memorandum of understanding on cooperation between two funding agencies, which will enable the joint funding for the best Russian-French collaborative projects in various areas of the basic sciences.

Physicists at MIPT and their British and Russian colleagues revealed the mechanisms leading to photocurrent in graphene under terahertz radiation. The paper published in Applied Physics Letters not only puts a period to a long-lasting debate about the origins of direct current in graphene illuminated by high-frequency radiation but also sets the stage for the development of high-sensitivity terahertz detectors.
