The meeting held on July 6 was organized in accordance with the Declaration of the II BRICKS Ministers of Science, Technology and Innovation (Brasilia. March 18, 2015) and the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in science, technology and innovation between the governments of the BRICS countries.
The meeting was organized by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and was attended by the representatives of Research Center "Kurchatov Institute", Joint Institute of Nuclear Research (JINR, Dubna), Russian Science Foundation (RSF), Russian Fund for basic Research (RFBR), Russian Foundation for Humanities (RFH) and the Foundation for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in the scientific and technical sphere (FASIES). Indian side was represented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Brazilian side – by the National Council for the State funding agencies (CONFAP), Research and Innovation Support Foundation of Santa Catarina state (FAPESC), Goias Research Foundation (FAPEG), Chinese side – by the Ministry of Science and Technology of P.R.C, and South African side – by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the National Research Foundation of South Africa.
During the meeting all participants discussed and agreed upon the main approaches to the launch of multilateral BRICKS Research and Innovation Initiative and worked out the implementation plan for the period of 2015-2018.
RSF continues respective consultations with the funding partners from the BRICS countries to explore the possibilities of multilateral joint calls with mutually agreed parameters.
