This call for proposals was conducted jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF/AFFRCS) for the first time. The scientists in all research fields by the RSF classifier could submit their proposals targeting the solutions of 5 research problems that had been agreed with the Japanese funding partner.
Based on the results of the independent review of applications by both parties, it was agreed to award 5 bilateral projects targeting 4 research problems: avian influenza; technologies for preserving agricultural products; development of sustainable agriculture and sustainable forestry industry in the the Russian Far East.
The Russian research teams awarded represent Russian State Agrarian University - Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy, Research Institute of Experimental and Clinical Medicine, Kazan Federal University, Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine of the Siberian branch of RAS, Institute of Animal Systematics and Ecology of the Siberian branch of RAS.
The agreement about launching this call was reached during the meeting of RSF Director General Alexander Khlunov and Director-General for Technological Affairs, Minister's Secretariat of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF/AFFRCS) Masamichi Saigo in December last year.
