"Commitment to Science" Award is conferred to RSF

On February 4, the prize recipients of the national "Commitment to Science" Awards were announced during the ceremony in Moscow, timed to the Day of Russian Science, which is celebrated on February 8. The awards ceremony was attended by the Aide to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the RSF Supervisory Board Andrei Fursenko, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Kotyukov, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Olga Vasilyeva, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Sergeyev, Rector of the Lomonosov Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy and Director General of the Russian Science Foundation Alexander Khlunov. The multimedia project of the Russian Science Foundation called “Science in 360 ° format” was selected by the jury among 11 prizewinners and awarded in the nomination “The best photo work in science”.

“Science in 360 ° format” is an outstanding digital collection of virtual lab tours consisting of spherical panoramic images integrated into various information formats (audio, photo, video, text). The project is designed to let the general public see the actual daily work of the research laboratories located in the universities and research centers across Russia. The project participants are 16 leading research organizations from 7 regions of Russia that received prestigious large-scale research funding from 2014 to 2018 in the framework of the RSF excellence-building programme to support integrated research programs.

The purpose of this national award program is to select and support projects aimed at popularizing research achievements, enhancing the prestige of professional scientific activity in Russia and developing professional communication among researchers. The founder of this award program is the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. Other partners include the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
