RSF and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan announced a joint competition of research projects

The call for proposals is launched jointly with the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Council Secretariat of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF / AFFRCS).
This call for proposals seeks to support basic and exploratory research projects in the following fields of knowledge:

  • Mathematics, computer science and systems sciences;
  • Physics and space sciences
  • Chemistry and materials science;
  • Biology and life sciences;
  • Basic research for medicine;
  • Agricultural sciences;
  • Earth sciences;
  • Humanities and Social Sciences;
  • Engineering.

The project should be related to the solution of the particular research tasks in the following thematic areas:
Potato research
Technologies for preserving agricultural products
Avian influenza
Development of sustainable agriculture in the Russian Far East
Sustainability of forestry industry in the Russian Far East.

Review of the project proposals will be carried out by Russian and Japanese side independently. Only the groups that obtained the positive evaluation of reviewers from both countries will be funded.

The RSF grant will amount from 4 to 6 million rubles annually based on the project implementation term in 2017-2019 years with the possibility of extension for one or two years.

The proposals are submitted until March 31, 2017, the results will be announced in July 2017.

Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF) is responsible for governance and state policy in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, covering the whole value chain from production to consumption, with a target of achieving stable supply of food, sound development of the agriculture, forestry and fisheries industries and upgrading of the welfare of rural inhabitants.
