“Supporting scientists living in 89 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, in 11 time zones, in a multinational country the size of an entire continent, requires us to use non-trivial approaches to research funding,” RSF Deputy Head of Programs and Projects Igor Protseko noted. “In 2022, we funded the first 550 projects from 42 Russian regions for a total amount of more than 1.3 billion rubles through a new large-scale RSF regional funding program focused on solving important socio-economic challenges of the regions of the Russian Federation”

Discussion participants from among the heads of leading foreign and Russian universities, industrial companies, innovation clusters, regional and national administrations and the business community of Russia, China, Iran, Egypt and other countries discussed ways to solve the problems of megacities facing new social, technological and environmental challenges, and the role of science and education in these processes.

“The Russian Science Foundation is open to cooperation with new Russian regions that have not yet joined our program. We also strive for dialogue and exchange of best practices in solving various regional problems together with the research funders from the BRICS+ countries,” RSF speaker assured
