“We are looking forward to the new partnership that will allow us to strengthen research efficiency in a wide range of disciplines in which outstanding researchers from Russia and Belarus work together. The great scientific challenges addressed by the scientists in our countries require the concentration of resources to meet the most important needs of society", commented the head of the Russian Science Foundation Alexander Khlunov regarding this new bilateral initiative. “We will focus our new funding program on promoting the highest research quality as well as on engaging more talented young researchers in both countries. I think that all this will be useful for the further advancement in research and technological development that are one of the most important components of the entire complex of the Russian-Belarusian strategic partnership".

The first call for 3-year project proposals is planned to be announced in March next year with the announcement of the winners before the end of 2022 and start of funding for selected projects in January 2023. The winners will be selected based on the results of an independent review of proposals in accordance with the rules and procedures established by the RSF and the BRFFR.

The Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research (BRFFR) funds each year more than 600 international collaborative projects, in which Belarusian scientists carry out joint research with investigators from 45 countries. The funding decisions are made by the Scientific Council of the BRFFR based on the results of the state scientific review and recommendations of the BRFFR expert councils.
